Mac OS X Update 10.11.5 - Change to Safari Security

There have been some changes to security for Mac OS X in 10.11.5 in opening Safari from the program. You will get a warning message and a failure to ope web pages directly in Safari after this latest update. To enable Safari to open pages on demand from CDOTG, go to Safari>Preferences>Advanced and click the bottom checkbox "Show Develop in menu bar". Then go back to Safari and click "Allow Javascript from Apple Events" and you will then be able to open and view web pages from CDOTG again!

Security for Mac - What you should know

We are seeing some issues with Mavericks which is actually good, but you need to know how to address these issues, and that has to do with "Security". To set this properly, go to the little Apple on the top left of your screen and click it and then click "System Preferences", then go to "Security and Privacy" and be sure your can download programs from "Anywhere" in order to update.

Then be sure the proper box is checked, for apps to be downloaded from anywhere under the General tab. To use the update feature of "Circuit Data On The Go" you must allow an app to run in the background called "FileMover.app" to complete the autoupdating process. You can set your settings back if you want for extra security later!

Filemaker Wants Access to Your Addressbook and Calendar!

It may be that you will get an error when trying to sync Contacts or send something to your Calendar. Anytime you try to communicate with another part of Mac with Filemaker, you could get some groaning from Mac OSX. This is a security protection so that programs can't randomly access your private information and send across the World Wide Web! if you get this message, go to "Preferences" (accessible from the little Apple in the upper left portion of the menu) then go to Privacy (See below)

Then go to the "Privacy" tab and be sure that "Filemaker Pro" or whatever program wants access to your various programs in Mac are clicked or checked "On". You will need to unclick the little padlock on the bottom, you will need to enter your computer password.

After checking and clicking the padlock to lock again, your program should be able to access Address book and Calendar or whatever program needs access. Be sure that the program wanting access is shut down completely. Sometimes I have found you actually need to shut down the computer after doing this for the new settings to take effect. After that, you should not get any more error messages!
